Greetings,

It's the start of another Rotary year. Last year we had a successful time with fundraising and have grown to the point that we are making some changes this year. Our major fundraiser is changing venue and with the leadership of Greg Mackler this year's event should soar to new heights.

We have done much this past year to give service and support to our community, the nation and the world. Our donations of goods, services and time to Homosassa Elementary, local Civic Associations, recognition of area veterans, our continues support of Upward Bound, Annual Christmas Shopping, to name just a few.; and our international projects like the purchase of a Shelter Box and our involvement with Stop Hunger Now should make you proud.

My goals for the club, besides fundraising are to focus on membership and fellowship. This brings me to the word that is part of both - SHIP. We must make a concerted effort on membership, otherwise our ship will founder and could go under. What a disaster that would be for both our club and the community we have tried to serve for all these years.

Our minimum membership goal for the year must be at least 10% growth - yes a minimum of 3 new members, hopefully 5. We need new blood and active members. We have a great core membership but that core needs to grow larger to enable us to move forward. Our membership is the backbone of our club. We need to be able stand straight and walk proudly into the future.

As it comes to fellowship, I hope we can visit as many other clubs throughout the year as possible and take part in inter club fellowship opportunities like The Beast Feast. I am hoping to have at least a couple of mixers like last year where we can invite prospective members and other clubs to come visit and enjoy our fellowship.

I would also try and resurrect some our relationships that have fallen by the wayside with our local youths. Community organizations like Upward Bound and Camp E Nini Hassee that our club has proudly supported in the past.

As I start my term I'm excited about the year to come and know I'll be well supported by Vice President Gordon Smith, Past President Fred Clark, President Elect Gerry Schabruch, Assistant District Governor Tom Feeney the board and our membership.

So let's all work together to achieve our goals and do it with fun and fellowship.

I pledge to do my best as this year's President of the Rotary Club of Homosassa Springs.

Respectfully,

David J. Worlton
